A healthy space in Villa Normandy, one of the jewels of the Marplatan architectural heritage
Félix Delor, French businessman, visited Mar del Plata at the beginning of the 20th century and in his tour he fell in love with the local landscape.According to historians, the views reminded their native place: Normandy, in France.Determined to spend the summers in La Feliz, he imagined his family refuge there. Thus, he commissioned the French architect Gastón Mallet, the construction of a house to enjoy and give great banquets.
The location was not randomly chosen: it was made in the La Loma Stella Maris neighborhood by the ground in elevation from where, at that time, the sea was seen.
En 1991, el edificio fue declarado Monumento Histórico Arquitectónico Provincial. In recent years, the property passed through different tenants.Among them, the Italy Consulate worked there. Then he housed public offices, and today an insurance company is headquarters.
However, the patio with pergolas designed for the three daughters of Delor - one of its most emblematic spaces - was abandoned.
Citaddini launched the value of the foreign sector where it used to function as a garage of the Delor.During the work process he respected original aesthetics. “Mantuvimos toda la estructura original, desde los techos de ladrillos hasta las bachas de época. Solo realizamos actualizaciones y una amplificación para brindar un buen servicio”, contó durante la visita de Infobae.
Coffee also has a space with outdoor tables for breakfast, lunch and enjoy a brunch."They were placed in the area of the three pergolas, each corresponded to the daughters of the marriage," he added.
A twin villa
Delor asked the architect Mallet a villa similar to those of the Norman people where he was born. And he did it exactly.Victoria Gazzanego, in charge of the walks guided by the Happy icon neighborhoods explains that Villa Normandy has its twin in France. “Se trata de Villa Frenda, un antiguo chalet de 1910 que se sitúa en Houlgate, un balneario exclusivo de la Belle Epoque”.This was a finding of screenwriter Alejandro Machado, amateur researcher, creator of the French architects blog that undoes the story.
Both villas not only have similarities in their structure but also in their field: they are on the corner and keep the same dimensions and the same amount of plants (four).
The facade is also similar with its wooden postcases and its enameled ceramic auctions that responds to the picturesqueism style that has as its main characteristic the use of textures, the false bread of Bois and mortars. The local version has one more tower in the center of the building. And the turret that is seen by Viamonte is square while the original is triangular.
Inside the house, an insurance company also works.
But that is not the only environment of the mansion that Citaddini seeks to relive. In the subsoil, where were the rooms of the governess of Delor's daughters, it was transformed into a restaurant that will open its doors in January. Ya tiene nombre: Angkor. And will offer cooking dishes in Kamado, ovens used in China and Asia.
The setting also responds to the style of the time.“There were no work interventions: the granite floor, the stone walls Mar del Plata and the brick roof, are original. We install a glass panels where there will be designs from the city in the twentieth century. Queremos transmitir una experiencia diferente que viaje en el tiempo”, concluyó Citaddini.
