That feeling capable of mastering the will is what is known as a passion. And in the world "nut", where emotion is from the design to the sound of the engine, it is fertile terrain for different types of phenomena to arise.

One of those who has grown strongly in recent years, very hand with the brutal advance of social networks, is that of the Car Spotting, or what is known as followers or car hunters.

The Car Spotters first appeared in the big cities of the world, where the most exclusive vehicles landed in greater numbers. Then, it was expanding throughout the globe, to every corner that there was a fan of cars willing to be all day, with sun or rain, just hoping to see a super sportsman appear.

In Chile, the phenomenon is increasing and more and more young people are installed in specific places to see an exclusive vehicle appear. And to know this parallel world of the automotive industry, we talked with Diego Palacios (20 years), Aarón Manosalva (24), Aaron Hermosilla (25) and Lukas Montaldo (27) four young people who stand out in their networks with the photographic material of cars of cars of cars, who told us and show what it means to be a car spotter.

Common origin

The passion for cars arises since childhood. Some see it coming, for others it comes in the blood. As Aaron Hermosilla recalls (@Aararonh.Photograph on Instagram), “I always liked playing with cars, assembling clues and I never fought the ball.It was something that was born in me and I followed him no more, there was no one who was showing me of cars or who has been mechanical or who would like the races ”.

In another path, there was Diego Palacios (@Dp_spotter), who says that “my closeness to the cars comes two sides. On the one hand, my grandfather was fans of the cars, ran in the Bischas, had American cars like Mustang and Camaro and from there was something in my DNA.The other thing is that I was watching videos on YouTube, on Instagram, and I found out where to see this type of cars in this country.I had no idea that they were here and so I started going to places, getting together with people and it was impossible to leave later, it's like a vice literally ”.

The approach of these fans would sometimes come by chance.Aaron Manosalva (@aaronpetrol), for example, acknowledges that “I have always liked to take pictures, but the idea of taking pictures of the cars emerged in 2016 when I started working at Ditec.I always wanted to have photos of super sports cars and then show them to my friends but I never knew where you could see those cars of such level until one day my former boss Hernán Ramírez commented on certain places and I began to spotte from that time ”.

Also attached to the emotional, Aaron Hermosilla says that “the idea of dedicating myself to car photography began when I started attending car events and I never had any memory. The first times I took photos with a camera that lent me a cousin and thus took pictures for me, from the cars I saw.And with the passing of time the photograph began to like me, I did not do it for a memory, but because I liked it ”.

Regarding the evolution they have over the years, Lukas Montaldo (@Lukasm.a), he points out that “everything left as a hobby, but soon I could start monetizing with jobs in different companies.I had the opportunity to work in Ferrari, Maserati, Volkswagen, Jeep and in other events companies. There I managed to generate fed up work experience in a short time thanks to the fact that I moved fed up and I could monetize something that was a hobby. While until today it is still a hobby, if you can generate profits, I do it, but it is not my main source of income ”.

Professionalize the subject also happened to Aaron Manosalva.“This left for Hobby but little by little I realized the talent that I acquired when doing this type of photos and they started calling me about brands like McLaren Santiago, who were almost the first to open the doors. So I did personal sessions or collectors, Cars and Coffee began to consider myself in his events which was somewhat great for me because thanks to his Instagram I discovered the high level of Super Cars in Chile in Chile.Today I do it as a profession, currently I work with Lombardis and I also have some collaborations with Ferrari Chile, McLaren Santiago, BMW Auto Club Chile and Porsche Club Andino ”.

Something similar happened to Aaron Hermosilla, who remembers that “at first I did it as a hobby and, to learn more of photography, I mixed it with my other great passion, which are the cars.Over time I gained experience in photography and edit.It was a great challenge and then my contact went to what I have today and although I work with several types of organizations, I take photographs by Hobby, it is not always for work, to have material that I can share with people ”.

But not everyone takes it as a professional challenge.Diego Palacios acknowledges that “at the beginning it was spontaneous, I took pictures with the cell.I have been with the page for three years, like four go to places, but it is totally a hobby, I do not receive income to say that it is professional ”.

As for the qualities that a person who wants to insert itself in this world, there are fundamental elements.Diego Palacios acknowledges that “a person who wants to devote to spotting must be clear that he invests and spends a lot of time. There are times when you can be lucky all day to see something epic, see a very nice car, some car you really want to see, since you never know when it can happen.Time is what is most used in this area ".

As for the dissemination today, social networks take responsibility. On this point, Montaldo says that “since 2016 the number of people taking photos has increased a lot, the number of pages the same and I like it, community is generated and knowledge is shared. It is very entertaining".

It is the world of the Car Spotters, those who pursue their passion after a camera only with the illusion of meeting for a few seconds with some model that hallucine them.If the whole day passes without achieving the goal, it will be the next day, since the passions have no term of term.
