This could be quietly the national rock calendar 40 years ago, when national rock lived the era of greatest splendor and popular fervor after the end of the dictatorship. But not decay. There is still an opportunity to see all these bands together and in one place.

The 80s.Rock in the street is the megamuestra of the National Historical Museum that groups all the bands born in the golden years of national rock who lived the transition period of the dictatorship to democracy, and reconstructs its walk between 1982 and 1991.

All the material was provided by collectors, the musicians themselves, relatives of dead artists and musicians, journalists and photographers who were part of the Argentine rock movement of those years.

Rock in a historic museum?

As a curiosity, the sample is presented in the National Historical Museum (MHN), a place where the cannons of the colonial era are part of the garden, where a stage has been mounted to do live concerts, where the grenadiers guard the Saber Corvo deSan Martín and where nineteenth -century paintings are exhibited in several of its rooms.Today more than historical museum should be called "Louvre del Rock" or something like that.

“The idea is that people who do not come to museums can approach the sample. We came up with this sample dedicated to rock, specifically in the ‘80 because there is a lot of heritage of that time without working with the museum collection that has nothing about it.It is another way to face Argentina, ”explains Gabriel Di Meglio, director of the MHN, who also participated in the curatorship together with Ricardo Watson and Carlos Gustino, also known as“ Aspix ”, the rock photographer.

The crossing of history

The sample is divided into seven axes.On the ground floor, before entering the room, there is a timeline that reviews the main political, social and economic events that were lived between 1982 and 1991.For example, in 1987 the first carapintada survey occurred.Or the visit of Pope John Paul II and the promulgation of the law of divorce and that of due obedience.

Surprise the number of strange and street posters, such as the Festival of the ’82 Festival, which announces the programming of the recitals of León Gieco, Raúl Porchetto, the grandparents out of nowhere and Serú Girán, among other bands.
