Designer furniture, quality materials, a touch of daring, adaptability and a touch of elegance. This is how we could define the modern luxury that distills the decoration of this house, the work of the interior architect Mara Chap Chap and Iconno, the distributor of exclusive furniture firms. A style of decoration that is felt in all rooms, but that shines with its own light in the living room.

The wall of the fireplace is one of the most important points of this house and from where the rest of the tones used for the decoration of the social area emerged. “The idea was to bring a sophisticated element like marble with a lot of movement, to give it a dramatic and impressive effect. On the two symmetrical sides, I opted for silver-tinted mirrors to reflect the light from the two windows in the living room and reinforce depth. While the floor has been covered with a large silver-gray rug, thus uniting the two environments”, says Mara Chap Chap. In order not to create a space that is too rigid and formal, but rather a pleasant place that allows circulation, a round XL pouf from Poliform and two Morgan armchairs from Flexform (all in Iconno) were chosen, which stand out for their versatility and refinement.

Living room

Gray dresses (almost) the living room from top to bottom (walls, carpet, curtains and sofa) becoming one of the most stylish and elegant colors to decorate the house. “Among the various layouts, we opted for an L-shaped sofa with silver-grey jacquard upholstery, which creates a relaxed and welcoming environment where family and friends can sit and interact socially. In order not to saturate the circulation space with a large coffee table, we have chosen three small tables of different materials, designs and heights. One of them in metallic and organic format contrasts with the two smaller ones made of wood. The wall above the sofa is reserved for a painting that has not yet been bought”, says the interior designer. The decorative cushions in different light tones and natural materials bring a feeling of warmth to the space.

This project shows that luxury and quality are not at odds with functionality. As real proof this bench, which also functions as a side table. Upholstered in natural leather in a darker gray than the fabric of the sofa, the support surface has been made more rigid, allowing it to support decorative objects, vases and a reading lamp. This corner has been completed with a composition of paintings, which mixes different frames and sizes.

Glass door and black wood that gives access to a living room with television

Television room

The black lacquered glass and wood door gives access to a small living room, where the family gathers to watch television. Although separated from the living room, an attempt has been made to maintain a certain connection through the materials and colors. Thus, the sofa upholstered in synthetic suede dialogues with the color of the round fireplace bench, while the gray rug is also made of a different fabric. The cushions in African and handmade fabrics add warmth to this cozy environment.

Every detail of this spectacular apartment is taken care of to the maximum, especially the lighting of the different rooms. In the TV room, the Self cabinet by Rimadesio (in Iconno) allows for a light design, which adapts to every need with containers with drawers and folding doors in lacquered glass and open modules in walnut wood. Also striking is the Eos shelf by Rimadesio with an LED strip, a perfect solution for watching TV without shadows.

Eat-in kitchen with wood cabinets and wall-to-wall mirror

kitchen with dining area

In this new modernity where the spaces open up to favor both daily life and the best use of the meters, the kitchen and the dining room share a room. Carefully designed to create a union suitable for both day-to-day and more formal meetings or dinners with friends, a central island houses the hob and storage space. "The choice of materials (wood, lacquer, mirror, light floor...) is totally linked to the unity and harmony between all the social environments of the house," says Mara Chap Chap.

U-shaped kitchen

Designed by Iconno for SieMatic, it achieves a perfect symbiosis of furniture and architecture. Distributed in a 'U' shape, facing the stove area with the sink and offering a large work surface, it combines high-gloss Agate-colored lower units and matt laminate upper units, in Provenzal Oak imitation wood. To maintain that minimalist spirit, the upper cabinets do not have handles, they open by pressing, while the lower ones have a handle type. The countertop is made of Camel Natural porcelain from the Silk series by Inalco and the electrical appliances are integrated. The Bora hob stands out.

Dining room

Located in front of the work island, it is part of the kitchen, although it maintains its own style. “Since we didn't have much space for the dining room, the option was to opt for a narrow rectangular table with rounded corners but one that could comfortably seat six people,” says Mara Chap Chap. With personality, the suspension lamp by Mooi, the Manta table by Rimadesio in black cast aluminum and the Valerie chairs by Miniform with upholstered seats stand out. While the sideboard, specially designed for this corner, offers a large storage capacity for crockery and cutlery for daily use. In addition, to take advantage of the light that enters through the two windows, the entire front wall was covered with a mirror, which expands it throughout the space.

Long corridor with white floor, one side covered with wood and the other with glass partitions

Distributor aisle

A long corridor, but wide enough to avoid the dreaded 'tube effect', connects the different rooms of the house. On one side, a wood-clad wall and on the other, two custom-made glass panels and a gold screen by Rimadesio (at Iconno) separate the entrance hall from the kitchen and dining room. The white floor also acts as a differentiating element between the public and private areas, since in this area the flooring is made of wood.

Master bedroom with wooden headboard wall, leather banquettes and beige bedding

Main bedroom

Bright and spacious, the double bedroom has been designed as a suite with an integrated bathroom and dressing room. The wall of the bed has been covered with the same wood that dresses the floors and the social area, providing a plus of warmth to the environment. The light tones, which move in the range of whites and ecrus, dress the headboard and the bedding, favoring an ideal rest atmosphere. The set is completed by the two white lacquered bedside tables, specially designed for the space, and the two leather stools at the foot of the bed, as practical as they are stylish.

Custom furniture in the room

Given that the owner couple needed more storage space, Mara Chap Chap's studio designed a bespoke piece of furniture in front of the bed with drawers and doors, very practical for organizing accessories and papers and with a space for the television and shelves. As it is lacquered in white, it is visually very light and integrates into an environment dominated by light tones.
