New luxury boutique hotel in La Rioja | Hotels and Accommodations

Spain edition. Santa María Briones will open in March in the town of the same name January 30, 2022

Santa María Briones, a high-end boutique hotel in the medieval town of Briones, located in one of the most important wine-producing enclaves in La Rioja Alta, will open its doors next March. Owned by Jaría Hotels, it is the project of a Riojan man and a Puerto Rican woman who have settled in the United States for a long time, who decided to return to recover their roots and their love for a cultural tradition closely related to the world of wine. The result is the recovery of a 16th-century civil mansion of high historical value by the architect Ignacio Quemada, responsible for the Kursaal Palace in San Sebastián, and the interior design studio Isabel López Vilalta & Asociados.

Santa María Briones has 16 spacious rooms of different categories, with views of the Ebro River and its vineyards at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, the defensive wall, also integrated into the interior patio of the accommodation as a space for relaxation and recreation, or to the medieval Briones. All of them are rooms equipped with technology and home automation and equipped with all kinds of services to make the stay a sensory experience.

The gastronomic offer will be in the hands of Juan Cuesta from Logroño, trained with the best, who will take care of the Allegar restaurant kitchen, a term that in local jargon means to clean the dish. A culinary proposal that will reinterpret the Rioja recipe book based on top quality ingredients from orchards and local producers. In addition, the restaurant will have a private area located in an old wine press where the grapes were trodden.

In Santa María Briones, the original draft of the house has also been recovered, a very important element associated with the culture of wine in La Rioja: small caves excavated in the rock that were used in the past to produce, breed and age that are currently used for casual dining.

The Calado of the hotel, in addition to being one of the best preserved in the area, replicates this use in a certain way to become the ideal place to taste a typical menu of Rioja products. La Habladilla is the private room that sits above the openwork, equipped with all the necessary technology for professional meetings.

The old medieval cistern of the manor house has been fitted out to house a spacious living room with a fireplace and a library.

The common areas are completed with a spacious living room with a fireplace and a library with the old cistern of medieval origin and an adjacent cafeteria, a small gym with a terrace on the third floor or private parking with a Tesla charger for all types of electric vehicles.

Santa María Briones will also offer various recreational experiences, such as the possibility of arranging guided visits to the abundant cultural heritage of the town and the rest of the region or to the most emblematic wineries of La Rioja. You will also have customizable reservation packages to enjoy unique stays adapted to each person.
