Second hand and / or vintage?

¡Buenos días!Second hand and / or vintage? | Loving Miami by Carla Goyanes Second hand and / or vintage? | Loving Miami by Carla Goyanes

I hope you enjoyed the weekend! Me enjoying my last weekend in Miami to the fullest... Well, it was melancholy that starts an exciting stage where I've grown up and together with our families and old friends! I want to talk to you about the difference between vintage and second-hand stores because people tend to confuse it a lot.

You're wondering why he's telling us about this? Very simple: last week I was about to take pictures in several stores classified in various media as vintage to do a post about vintage stores in Miami, and it turns out that when I arrive at the first store recommended by a friend-Consign of the times -, they tell me that it is a second-hand but almost new clothing shop, that no vintage, that please be clear. And indeed, walking around the store and then looking at the web I understood that, except for some old pieces, most of them are garments with a maximum of two or three years old. While vintage stores often go far back in time and sell decades-old clothing and accessories that have remained intact and are back in fashion.

Both types of shops have proliferated in recent years. Vintage stores are fashionable because it takes to rescue the old from the other decades and mix it with the current. And the second-hand but current stores have become fashionable, in my view because of the crisis. People do not want to give up wearing good brands, following the trends of great designers, and thanks to these kinds of shops they can, either sell after the season or the wedding shift their star garments, or buy directly in these shops the worn clothes in perfect condition and at a much lower price, within that it is no gift.

Anyway, I loved this little Miami Beach store, get of the times, 1935 West Avenue. It is small but its decoration is very cute, a lovely saleswoman, the front part very well presented and in the back more to look for chollos. I wasn't looking forward to shopping, but "tia pats" who was with me bought an ideal hat. I saw some of the star pieces at the time and I was fascinated by others like an old Louis Vuitton suit holder.

Tienen todas las marcas de lujo en las tiendas, pero online hay una oferta mucho mayor, www.consignoftimes.com: McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci, Fendy, Gucci, Givenchy, Hermes, H. Stern, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Louis Viutton, Manolo Blanhnick, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Rag &Bone, Cavalli, Roger Vivier, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Versace…

I go in the pictures of Armani Xchange jeans and Lush's shirt, it shoes and J. crew earrings.

As for vintages stores, I've been told about fly boutique, Miami twice, rabbit Hole and Lincoln Road's Antique Market. Fly boutique, at 7235 Biscayne Blvd, also has an online website: flyboutiquevintage.com and makes international shipments. Miami twice, almost 30 years old, has its space at 6562 SW 40th St. not only are old, but also modern, and even make costumes with garments from other times.

Rabbit Hole located in 17032 WDixie Hwy of North Miami Beach, has in my view the most complete web in terms of design, looks created and for sale, content, variety or international shipments. At www.shoprabbithole.com prices range from 50 to 250 USD, a much lower range than the garments of other vintage shops with designer products reaching 11,000 and 18,000 USD.

Finally, very special and unique pieces can be found on the Antique market of Lincoln Road, which is installed from time to time on that shopping street (you have to consult calendar).

I hope you liked this post about second-hand and vintage Miami stores! I'll take rabbit Hole and get of the times.
