The art of building replica supercars out of scrap metal

It costs 30,000 euros

A Thai workshop has created copies of the Bugatti Chiron or the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing with scrap parts

Driving a luxury hypercar is a desire that most people cannot afford due to the high price that these cars have. Only those who have a very large checking account are in a position to treat themselves to buying a whole Bugatti Chiron, as is the case with some reggaeton singers, with Bad Bunny at the helm. We have reported on this in previous reports.

The Puerto Rican artist, however, after spending more than 3 million euros with his supercar, ended up fed up with the car shortly after making such an outlay. To the point of declaring that he did not know what to do with it in order to go unnoticed. It is not strange that everyone knew that this was Bad Bunny's car, because as he himself said, his was the first Chiron to land on the island.

El arte de construir réplicas de superdeportivos con chatarra

Showing off a Chiron can now be done for much less money. In a craft workshop in Thailand, a couple of replicas of this model have been manufactured for a much lower price: 30,000 euros per unit. This is the amount (1% of its real value) that a Swedish client has paid to the managers of the Scrap Metal Art Thailand workshop to get a copy of the French car.

From a distance, the Chiron looks real but up close it doesn't lie: there is no trace of the luxury of the 3 million euro hypercar

How could it be otherwise, the two units of the Bugatti Chiron manufactured in Thailand have a trick. These are two copies built entirely by hand from parts of vehicles that had been previously scrapped.

The camera also shows a Ferrari 250 GTD that is still under construction. The body of the Mercedes is made with nuts, bolts and other small parts welded together.

This unique workshop has clients from 40 countries around the world and also builds fictional superheroes over 10 meters tall

Scrap Metal Art Thailand opened its doors in 2012 and works on commissions from more than 40 countries around the world. His clients include members of the royal houses of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Cars aren't the only parts made by the workshop's artisans. They also work on the construction of small objects that can be obtained from 2,500 euros and huge metal structures over 10 meters high.

Among these latest pieces, the construction of the replicas of the robots that appear in the movie Transformers and other superheroes from the world of fiction such as Robocop or Terminator stand out. To admire them up close - they measure more than 10 meters high - it is necessary to climb the plane ladder that those responsible for the workshop-museum make available to visitors. To access the site you have to pay the equivalent of 1.8 euros that the ticket costs.
