Come up POINT AND APART
In the last week I have not been able to get myself completely up, so that this column at the end of the year ceased to be more than a lifeline to hold on to. And while I'm not one to think that any past time was better, I can hardly convince myself that this end of the year will not be a secondhand deja vu of 2020.
However, and in order to trust in the future, because what else can we do, I will put my red underwear back on so that, with or without a pandemic (although the latter option is better), 2022 will be the year we all wish: the best, so far. And at twelve o'clock at night, I'll raise my glass to it.
The best thing about the turn of the year is that almost magical confidence that the counter goes back to zero. A clean slate that allows us, for a few hours, to convince ourselves that the next 365 days we will be the best version of ourselves, both inside and out; and although willpower does not usually go beyond January 15, the truth is that the feeling of having enough power to change things lasts is wonderful.
Perhaps the president of the Junta de Castilla y León shares with me that feeling that the beginning of the year brings with it, and that is why he has decided to advance the elections to the beginning of 2022, confident that the illusion of giving the return to the marker will benefit him electorally. What is certain is that the intention of showing the best version of himself, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco will last a little longer than the rest of his fellow citizens, until, at least, that February 13 when the oracle of the polls Offer your chances to form a government.
He has the same thing in his favor as against him: in the short term that he has held the Presidency of the community, he has barely been seen outside of Valladolid. A pity, taking into account that, even if it does so now, it will no longer get the vote of the 20,261 fewer people that the electoral census will have, as a consequence of our wrinkled population pyramid, which will not be supported by the two and a half years of the last government, no matter how high up I am that the acting president takes revenge, he has managed to put a positive.
