MADRID, July 25 (EUROPA PRESS) -

In summer there is up to 50 percent more chance of suffering vaginal infection as a result of high temperatures and humidity, according to experts from Ordesa, who have highlighted the "importance" of extreme intimate hygiene during the summer season to avoid complications.

Currently, it is estimated that up to 75 percent of women suffer from vaginal infections at some point in their lives. Among its main symptoms are itching, discomfort, irritation and an altered vaginal discharge, which can significantly alter the quality of life of the affected person, although they are easily cured infections.

Faced with the appearance of these signs, Ordesa has recommended going to the specialist as soon as possible to start treatment. In the same way, they have advised to take off the wet swimsuit after the bath, and to keep it supposes the cause of 50 percent of the infections.

On the other hand, it is recommended to use cotton underwear or swimwear, since it is a more breathable fabric that will help prevent the accumulation of moisture, which will reduce the proliferation of fungi and bacteria. In addition, the genital area should be kept clean and dry, not wearing tight pants and avoiding perfumed products, as they could irritate the skin in this area as a result of the chemical compounds it contains.

Finally, it is "essential" to take care of the state of the vaginal microbiota, since it acts as a protector against the entry of bacteria. Thus, experts have concluded that taking synbiotics helps maintain a vaginal microbiota rich in lactobacilli, which favors the vaginal ecosystem and increases defenses against possible genital infections.
