Trend alert: the jewels that came from the sea (and where to buy them)
“I wanted to create something different, something that represented what has changed inside all of us. For me, that meant dreaming of a new world. A world full of bright colors and fantastic creatures, where we can all coexist in peace." These are the exact words with which Donatella Versace refers to Versacepolis on her website, the name under which she coined her spring-summer 2021 collection. Versacepolis is a utopian environment created in the depths of the oceans, ruled by Medusa and inhabited by strong, optimistic and hopeful women and men. With these premises, she saw the light in September, a proposal full of prints of shells and stars, saturated colors, impossible silhouettes and endless accessories with allusions to the inhabitants of salt waters.
But Donatella Versace was not the only one to dive into the seabed for inspiration when designing hypnotic jewelry. So did firms such as Alberta Ferretti or Johanna Ortiz, willing to turn earrings, bracelets and necklaces into pure natural poetry. And it was not for less, both showed that there is no better way to elevate a set of minimalist aesthetics, or to put the note of contrast to a summer dress, than dressing it with a prodigious accessory that in itself makes the look.

After conquering the catwalks and verifying the infinite possibilities they had, the jewels that came from the sea have managed to find a place in the lists of most sought-after accessories, jewelery and costume jewelery of the moment.
