Animated films that would have to be adapted to live-action

Disney is on its way to world domination. A major factor in Mickey Mouse's house dominance has been remaking his own creative product. The term creative is somewhat of an exaggeration, because some of the remakes the studio has been doing are nothing more than exact recreations of its animated films, with too many shots copied directly from the original production. Despite the lack of creativity on that side, transforming their classics into live-action films has worked quite well for them and with the few titles that have been released they managed to take home several billion dollars thanks to their good reception throughout the world.

Do not miss it: Animated films with great female characters

Although much of the discussion revolves around Disney's live-action remakes since it has a long list of classics to adapt, animated films have not only given us great jewels from that studio, but others also have stories that deserve adapt to the live action format. Living in an era where Hollywood is primarily interested in remaking movies that have the nostalgia crowd to secure box office revenue, or those slightly more modern properties that have a large fan base, it stands to reason that are thinking about how to continue squeezing those movies that we love so much.

However, they often choose to remake properties that didn't need any improvement to begin with and don't do anything new or interesting with the story, so the movies always end up feeling worse and hollower than the originals. Obviously, they only want to remake their most popular movies so they can guarantee a profit, but it would be much more interesting to see them remake a lesser-known movie or one that could be significantly altered in an interesting way into a live-action movie. But as we mentioned, not everything is Disney and there are a number of classics and public favorite films that probably won't be adapted in this way because they belong to studios that don't treat their products like the mouse, and their stories in many cases are superior.

All of these movies obviously work well in animation, but they are stories that we definitely want to see get this treatment. Next, we will tell you what titles we are referring to:

We recommend: Atlantis: The Lost Empire, by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, what did the critics say at its premiere?

Anastasia

Anastasia's story has been done on film before, with Ingrid Bergman in the 1956 film, but that's a historical drama. In Anastasia - 86%, from 1997, the film captures more legend than historical fact. However, the story is magical and the music stands out. The film follows Anya (Meg Ryan) and her quest to find her family's history and her true identity: Anastasia, the only surviving daughter of the last Tsar of Imperial Russia. Throughout her journey, she receives help from her as she flees from Rasputin (Christopher Lloyd). With Russia and France as settings, it fits into the trend of historical content that occupies much of today's entertainment, but it can also be a great musical that if done the same as the animated film, will require the same character voices as well. sing.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

This movie was supposed to be the next big Disney franchise, but the response to the movie was lackluster. Apparently, the studio already had a TV spinoff and theme park attraction in the works before the film's release, but they secretly canceled future plans due to its box office failure. Unlike some of the movies that Disney has announced in recent years, Atlantis: The Lost Empire - 43% fits perfectly with the live-action format and could even be much better. If the visual style is continued in the live-action film, it will be a beautiful project and to be honest, it's not like we get a lot of underwater adventures lately either.

Big Hero 6

Películas animadas que deberían adaptarse a live-action

This is a fairly recent entry into the Disney canon, so it might be an odd choice for a remake so soon; however, this is something that Disney could definitely consider redoing in the future. The tone of the movie worked perfectly as an animated movie, and it made it so that the story could be light while still having epic fight scenes that might require a lot of CGI in a live-action movie. Thanks to the MCU it has been shown that people have an interest in superheroes, and the Big Hero 89 movie was very well received when it was released, making it a feasible option for Disney to eventually remake. It would be really fun to see this done with real teenagers and to be able to see that kind of dynamic on screen.

How to Train Your Dragon

Seeing the world of How to Train Your Dragon - 98% in a more realistic setting is something DreamWorks should consider. Game of Thrones - 59% have proven that the technology is there to make these creatures look compelling, so one can only imagine how amazing one of these cartoony dragons would look on the average Hollywood blockbuster budget. In addition to technology, the strength of this adaptation would be in its casting since it is very likely that the same actors will not be considered, who also could no longer fit in with the ages of the protagonists. It is certainly a story that deserves this type of adaptation, but made with all the attention to detail because otherwise it could be terrible.

The The Road to El Dorado

This cult classic is, despite its colossal box office flop, widely regarded as one of the best animated films to have been released since 2000. There are many who praise The Road to El Dorado - 48%, and you might be surprised when knowing that the critics didn't find it very interesting either. However, the adventures of these two swindlers who accidentally find El Dorado, and the locals confuse them with gods, could be a triumph for the producer who decides to make the remake live -action. It's never too late to relive this story, and with a top-notch cast it could attract many onlookers.

The iron Giant

This giant robot had a cameo in Ready Player One: The Game Begins - 78% and it was glorious. He looked exactly what someone would have imagined a live-action version of the Iron Giant protagonist would look like - 96%, and left little doubt that the character could look legit. The question is whether this remake will ever happen, since filmmaker Brad Bird has made it clear that a sequel will not be produced, though that doesn't necessarily rule out a remake. Actor Vin Diesel has expressed interest in reprising the role in the past, so the character's voice would theoretically be ready if Warner Bros. decides to do so.

The treasure Planet

It's hard to see how this movie wouldn't appeal to a modern audience, with its steampunk aesthetic and the fact that it focuses on sailors and pirates in space. With the Star Wars sequels reminding everyone how much they love space stories, it might be the perfect time to bring back this lesser-known Disney classic. Thanks to how much technology has advanced, they would have no problem creating the worlds and creatures that are needed for this story. Treasure Planet - 69% also explores complex family themes that could appeal to a larger audience, and the relationship between its characters is a dynamic worth bringing to the screen.

princess mononoke

There is already a live-action remake of Kiki's delivery service: Home Delivery - 96%, so we think it's only a matter of time for other Hayao Miyazaki films to follow. An adaptation of Princess Mononoke - 92% in live action could be a great film, not only because of its epic sequences and the bravery of its protagonist, but it is also the film that we need most right now because of its environmental issues. It could be done perfectly with effects in the style of The Jungle Book - 85%, but of course it will depend on a good script to not be just another movie.

Nimh, the secret world of Mrs. Brisby

Many older people can well remember Nimh, the secret world of Mrs. Brisby-96%, probably because she scared the hell out of them in their youth. This bizarre animated adventure didn't really downplay its audience with its story of genetically altered rats, and it deserves our admiration for it. From time to time rumors come out about a live-action remake, but it has only been that. If there have been any serious steps in this project, the public doesn't know, although the fact that someone may be trying to make it happen gives us hope that one day it might. We hope it's as dark as the original, and not a toned-down version that will make new generations wonder what was so scary about this movie.

Littlefoot in Search of the Enchanted Valley

There are several traumatic events from animated movies that every child must undergo as a rite of passage and the death of Littlefoot's mom is one of them. Many still remember seeing the little long neck say his last goodbye to his mother, who dies from her injuries after defending him from a Tyrannosaurus Rex attack. And with the remarkable success of the Jurassic World franchise, now is the perfect time to remake this prehistoric adventure that, in addition to a lot of drama, also has a great dose of fun thanks to the dinosaurs that starred in it at the time. There's a lot of potential in this long-running franchise, and we think remaking filmmaker Don Bluth's story about a baby brontosaurus and his friends on their journey to the Great Valley seems like a no-brainer.
