Porsche Design celebrates its golden anniversary by bringing together two jewels

To celebrate the golden anniversary of Porsche Design, the German firm has brought together two very special jewels: the current 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition and a 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa, restored by Porsche Classic and born the year in which the design studio was founded. In addition, the Chronograph 1, a limited edition watch of 500 pieces, has been presented.

The great protagonist of these celebrations is the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition, which arrives as a limited edition of 750 units. Based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS, its all-black exterior features numerous details inspired by iconic FA Porsche designs. In addition, a nod to the past is included through different elements such as the central sections of the Sport-Tex seats with checkered upholstery and the red second hand of the Porsche Design Subsecond clock.

This special edition, which will arrive at dealerships from next April, is now available for just a few lucky ones... its price in Spain is 218,045 euros.

On the occasion of these celebrations, for the past two years, Porsche Classic has been working on a very special project: the restoration of a 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972. "The work of the factory designers and restorers was to carefully transfer the specifications from the new model to the classic," explained Ulrike Lutz, Director of Porsche Classic.

A 911 T 2.4 Targa from 1972 in very poor condition was taken as a base. The Porsche guys completely updated the engine and chassis to adapt it to the specifications of the S version. The top-of-the-range model in its day reached 190 hp at 6,500 rpm and was equipped with a mechanical injection system.
