According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. at the Jewelry and Repair Center, located at 300 W. Mission Avenue.

The officers were able to obtain the recordings from the video surveillance cameras, in the video the two thieves are observed using a white SUV from the automaker Volkswagen to crash into the jewelry store, to then get out of the vehicle and run to the inside the trade

One of the thieves allegedly used an ax to break through the displays and steal the jewelry and cash.

Police believe the white van was stolen in Oceanside two days prior to the incident.

Both robbers were described as Hispanic by police, the first wearing a gray Nike sweatshirt and pants, while the second wore blue jean and a black T-shirt, both wearing face masks to conceal their identities.

The Escondido Police Department is asking the public to help them identify the criminals seen in the video and call Detective Mike Martinez at 760-839-4739.
