Lamborghini will auction its first NFT

Like many of its peers, Lamborghini, the popular Italian luxury car manufacturer, has jumped on the unstoppable trend of NFTs (non-fungible tokens).

According to The Verge, Lamborghini has announced that it will auction a series of NFTs that it has created in collaboration with Swiss artist Fabian Oefner, with NFT Pro and Sotheby's auction house. The image created by Oefner shows a Lamborghini breaking down in space, like a space rocket.

It seems that the company sees this contribution to the NFT universe as a kind of approach to a younger audience.

The auction of the first of the five NFTs will take place at nft.lamborghini.com from 4:00 pm (Rome time) on February 1. All other auctions will start and end 15 minutes later than the previous one. Each auction will last 75 hours and 50 minutes, which according to the company is the exact time it took for Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the orbit of the Moon.

It seems that the company sees this contribution to the NFT universe as a kind of approach to a younger and wealthier audience. "The NFT community is a pretty young, innovation-oriented crowd," Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann told The Verge. "They have similar values or interests as Lamborghini as a company or the Lamborghini community in general. So it's a pretty logical link," the executive added, as reported by the Digital Trends site.

NFTs are the modern day versions of the trading cards of the past. These are unique cryptocurrency units that cannot be replicated as they are created as unique and exclusive blocks in the chain of the platform chosen by the seller. This string also stores the ownership of the file, hence its high value.

Great treasures in NFT

Julian, John Lennon's eldest son, has started selling some rare items from his father's and Beatles history that come from his own private collection.

The most coveted items to be auctioned as NFTs are John Lennon's coat from the movie "Magical Mystery Tour," his cape from "Help!", three guitars, and Paul McCartney's handwritten notes for the arrangements of "Hey Jude." ".

The NFT series is called "Lennon Connection: The NFT Collection" and it went up for auction on Monday, which will start on February 7 in collaboration with NFT marketplace YellowHeart and Julien's Auctions. A portion of the money raised from the NFT auction will be donated to Lennon's White Feather Foundation.

Julian will keep the original physical items and the buyer who purchases the NFT will keep the rights to it. Each of the non-fungible tokens in the collection is offered as an audiovisual collectible and will be narrated by Julian Lennon himself.

The most valuable item in the collection and for which the highest bids are expected is a handwritten note by Paul McCartney himself from the classic "Hey Jude." The NFT for this item starts with a base of $30,000.

It is not the first time that Julien's Auctions has sold Beatles memorabilia and that they have reached millions of dollars in value. Some of the highlights of the collection are one of John Lennon's acoustic guitars which was auctioned for $2.4 million, Ringo Starr's drum kit sold for $2.2 million, and Ringo's drumhead used in the " Ed Sullivan Show" in 1964 sold for $2.1 million.
