"I'll be back, I won't be long" said the economist Luigi Edgardo Vassallo Fernández (47) to his partner when leaving his house on October 7. However, he never returned. He disappeared when he was going to enter the FEVACEL central market, located in the Independencia district, near his home in San Martín de Porres (SMP).
His relatives have searched for him in hospitals in different districts and even in the central morgue of Lima, but there are no traces of him.

Vassallo, who carries out thesis projects in his home, left that morning at 11:30 am to carry out two activities: leave the clothes in the laundry and on the way back buy food for his rabbits. He did it walking because everything was close to his house.
Due to his strange delay, his partner Marilyn Cortez Trujillo began to worry about what he called his cell phone and had no answer. Later, he reported his disappearance to the Missing Persons Search Investigation Division.
Vassallo's relatives toured the different businesses and thus obtained videos from the security cameras in which the businessman is seen. He walks calmly to the laundry and answers messages on his cell phone.
Then he is seen walking towards the FEVACEL central market in Independencia, but it is not known if he entered because the cameras only caught him one block away.
During the time that he left his house for the laundry, the economist responded to messages to several students and also to his 7-year-old girl reminding him not to forget to buy masks. In his WhatsApp status it appears as the last hour of communication at 12:47 pm on the day of his disappearance, his partner specified.
Luigi Vassallo that day was wearing black sweatpants, a blue sports jacket, lead-colored sneakers and sunglasses. The only valuables he was carrying was his cell phone and a S/50 bill for purchases.
